WHEREAS, the University of West Florida Board of Trustees (“UWF” or University) and the United Faculty of Florida, University of West Florida Chapter (“UFF”) are engaging in 2007-2008 contract re-opener negotiations, and

WHEREAS, the parties acknowledge there are unique budgetary circumstances related to the 2007-2008 fiscal year, and acknowledge that additional clarification regarding the University’s finances will not be available during the regular re-opener period, and

WHEREAS, the University recognizes the value of the Faculty to the institution,

NOW THEREFORE, the parties, for and in consideration of the mutual benefits and obligations herein set forth, have entered into this Memorandum of Understanding, and agree as follows:

Agreement to Reopen Re-opener

The parties agree that the re-opener may be re-opened after information regarding the University’s funding is further clarified by the Legislature and by the Board of Governors. The parties expect clarification to be made sometime during the Fall, 2007 semester.

The parties further agree that the sole purpose for reopening this re-opener is to discuss possible faculty salary increases over and above the increases or bonuses provided in Section 25.1 of the Agreement. No issues other than such increases may be raised.
